EVO ICLâ„¢
What Is EVO ICL?
EVO ICL is an implantable Collamer® Lens (ICL) designed to correct nearsightedness with and without astigmatism. The small flexible lens is placed behind the iris (the colored part of the eye) and in front of the natural crystalline lens in order to improve vision. It’s like having your doctor implant a lens similar to a contact lens into your eye so you can live without the daily hassles and maintenance of typical contact lenses.

What to Expect
If our doctors determine that EVO ICL surgery is an appropriate fit for your needs, the preoperative assessment involves measurements of your eyes’ prescription and the space under the surface of your eye where we will place the implantable contact lenses. Our team uses advanced and precise pre-operative scan technology to collect medical data with a high level of accuracy to create your permanent Collamer® lenses. We perform the EVO ICL surgery as an outpatient procedure that usually takes 30 minutes to an hour. You can expect significant improvement right after the surgery and you generally can return to your normal activities after 24 to 48 hours following the procedure. Follow-up appointments are scheduled at one day, one week, and one month after your EVO ICL surgery.

The EVO ICL surgery is performed on an outpatient basis which means that the patient has surgery and leaves the same day. The procedure itself usually takes 20-30 minutes or less. The patient will need someone to drive them home on surgery day. A light, topical or local anesthetic is administered. There is typically very little discomfort during or after surgery. Some eye drops or medication may be prescribed and a visit with your eye care professional is usually scheduled the day after surgery.
EVO ICL is not typically noticeable after it is implanted. It does not attach to any structures within the eye and does not move around once in place.
No. EVO ICL is positioned behind the iris (the colored part of the eye), where it is invisible to both you and others. Only your eye care practitioner will be able to tell that vision correction has taken place.
EVO ICL is intended to remain in place without maintenance. EVO ICL can be removed by your eye care professional if needed in the future. If your physician removes the EVO ICL lens, you will lose the benefit of your nearsightedness correction.
