Dr. Zimmer is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist dedicated to providing exceptional medical and surgical eye care with compassion, integrity, and the latest advances in ophthalmic technology. He joined Ennen Eye Center following completion of his ophthalmology residency at the Texas A&M/Baylor Scott & White Eye Institute in Temple, Texas, where he served as Chief Ophthalmology Resident.

A native of the Ozarks, Dr. Zimmer grew up in southwest Missouri. After competing as a collegiate wrestler at the University of Nebraska, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Missouri State University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA and receiving the Department of Chemistry Outstanding Senior Award. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Missouri before completing an internship in Internal Medicine and advanced residency training in ophthalmology.

Dr. Zimmer provides comprehensive ophthalmic care with particular expertise in modern cataract surgery, premium intraocular lenses, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), laser vision correction including LASIK and PRK, comprehensive medical eye care, and functional eyelid procedures. He is committed to delivering individualized care, utilizing evidence-based medicine and state-of-the-art technology to help each patient achieve the best possible visual outcomes.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Zimmer has a passion for service through international ophthalmology missions. He has provided surgical and medical eye care in underserved communities throughout Honduras, Kenya, and Ghana, helping restore sight in resource-limited settings. His faith continues to inspire his commitment to serving patients with excellence, compassion, and humility.

Dr. Zimmer and his wife, Haley, are grateful to call the River Valley home, where they are raising their three young sons. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, doing outdoor activities, enjoying local coffee, and serving through his local church. He is honored to care for patients throughout Fort Smith and the surrounding region and is committed to preserving and restoring vision for every stage of life.
